Roald Dahl is master of astonishing points, laconic British humour and original imagination which – on a seemingly realistic footprint – can build incredible stories. His short stories have reached great popularity amongst readers, despite depicting the often dark corners of human consciousness.
The Hotel Bristol Apartment combines a number of Dahl's short stories into one. In the late fifties in a luxury hotel at the opening of an exhibition of a recently deceased painter’s pictures several bizarre characters meet – eccentric rich people, hedonistic world travellers, charming ladies betting fraudsters and ordinary adventurers and tired couples. Everyone brings their own story to the hotel, and each room becomes the scene of the denouement of bizarre stories of love, infidelity, revenge and crime.
